SHIPPING:
We ship pet cargo with American Airlines.
We use Runway Pets, Inc., a service to book a flight for your puppy (air cargo). They are an excellent company that offers competitive discount rates. I have used their service to ship puppies across the United States for over ten years and have never had one issue. Unfortunately, our nearest airport is MCI in Kansas City, MO, which is a 2-hour drive one-way for me, so 4 hours of total driving time. Therefore, I charge a small fee to cover my gas expenses. You can search the Runway Pets, Inc. website and read the testimonials from recent customers.
The cost of shipping is $500 for one puppy. Prices are subject to change without notice. Puppies must be eight weeks old to ship according to airline regulations. Older puppies will cost more due to weight. The shipping charge covers the cost of the crate with all required labeling, food/water dishes, vet visit, health papers, and airfare.
We understand you may have reservations about shipping, but it is safe and stress-free for your new puppy. We do not sedate the puppies in any way. Instead, they ship awake, alert, well-fed, hydrated, and comfortable. Some sleep on their way and wake up in your arms, ready to love them.
Puppies are a priority with the airlines and are handled with the best care. Only specific aircraft are equipped to transport live animals. Therefore, the animals get the same pressurization and air as the passengers.
The crates used for shipping are the hard-plastic type. Attached to the dog crate will be a small baggie of food. There will be two dishes attached to the inside of the dog crate. Plan to stay somewhere outside safe for a few minutes to offer a little exercise and a bit of food and water if hungry or thirsty before heading home. Please send me a quick text when you have the puppy in your care then we can keep in touch during the day or the following day to address questions/concerns after you have had some time to observe and interact with your puppy.
You will also find the necessary paperwork attached to the crate. Inside will be your registration paperwork, a copy of the Health Guarantee, your puppy’s health records with a schedule to follow, and copies of all parents' lab reports, so be sure to take the entire packet and its contents with you to the vet so he/she can make copies for your puppy's file.
Your puppy will not be exposed to temperatures of less than 45 degrees Fahrenheit unless there is an acclimation statement by a Veterinarian or temperatures above 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Please understand that during the summer months, when the temperatures are high, sometimes I must reschedule shipping the puppy due to the temperatures.
I also use a Flight Nanny that can ride with your puppy in the cabin. The fee varies. It can be anywhere from $575 to $1200.
